Rick Beato is a multi-instrumentalist, music teacher, producer, dad to Layla and Dylan, and host to three deaf animals (2 dogs and a cat). His YouTube show (What Makes This Song Great?) is the best guide to the magic and mystery of music I know. To get you started, here are links to three of my favorite videos on Rick’s channel:
— A proud dad being amazed by his son’s mind-blowing innate talent.
— Deconstructing Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition.”
— Deconstructing Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes.”

Re. the possible commonalities between A Mahler, a Beethoven and a John Lennon, I am of the idea that all creative people (not just artists but also scientists) are not the real “originators” of the work, but they are merely “tapping in” and become “mediums” between this world and somewhere else.
Here’s an interesting article written by my friend and mentor Greg Taylor suggesting Prince became a musical savant after an “angel” cured him of his epilepsy:

Chris you’re talking complex politics but when it comes to complex music you have no idea. I don’t get it
